This is the larger size grip for Firestar M-45 pistol, which is the .45 ACP model. The M-40 is smaller and does not use this grip, even though they look the same in photos. The grip has a screw near the base to secure it to the gun, and the two spacers should be fitted to the cut-out in the frame and then epoxy glued to the back of each grip panel to hold the panels securely from moving about the screw. You will need to remove a little material near the top back of the panel in order to clear components of the action. This is easy to do with a Dremel "Moto-tool" or similar hand-held rotary bit tool, with a small cylinder-shaped grinding bur.
